MOT Partakes in Caucasus Investment Forum

An MOT delegation led by Acting Assistant Undersecretary of Land Transport Affairs Eng. Hamad Issa Abdullah has participated in the Caucasus Investment Forum in Mineralnie Vody, Russia.Attended by numerous Arab and foreign officials, the forum discussed multiple topics related to transportation and socioeconomic development in the Caucasus and its integration with the Middle East, in addition to enhancing infrastructure and supportive logistics services and stimulating the private sector’s participation in the investment opportunities in the Caucasus.The MOT delegation held separate meetings with Russia’s deputy minister of economic development and deputy director general of the Russian Railways. The meetings discussed bilateral cooperation ties and the latest on regional and international connection.

MOT Conducts Campaigns on Violating Passenger Transportation Companies

The Ministry of Transport, in collaboration with the relevant departments of the Ministry of Interior, is conducting campaigns to make sure that passenger transportation companies have obtained the required legal licenses from the MOT and are following the requirements as per Law No. 8 of 2019 Regulating Road Transport and its Implementing Regulations issued by the Minister of Transport’s Decision No. 13 of 2024.The MOT’s campaigns have found out that the company TaxiF is violating the laws by offering the service of passenger transportation via electronic applications without prior MOT license.The campaigns also registered 11 violations for drivers of licensed limousine companies and 13 violations for drivers transporting passengers using private cars without a license, in violation of the abovementioned law and its regulations.The campaigns during Q1 of 2025 reported 66 violations for licensed limousine companies that do the business of passenger transportation via electronic applications.With such drives, the MOT continues to make sure the companies that perform that business follow all required safety standards and the requirements of the law in effect to make sure the companies provide the highest quality of service in a fair competitive environment. The MOT will continue cracking down on the unlicensed companies.The MOT will apply the applicable laws and regulations on the violating companies. It urges the companies to follow the laws in force and obtain the necessary licenses to be able to do the business legally.

Qatar, Benin Sign Seafarer Certificates Mutual Recognition MoU

A Memorandum of Understanding on the Mutual Recognition of Seafarer’s Certificates was signed today between The Government of The State of Qatar and The Government of The Republic of Benin.The MoU was signed by Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani and Benin’s Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Olushegun Adjadi Bakari.The MoU comes in implementation of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers 1978 (STCW) and its Amendments.The MoU shall apply to the certificates of seafarers who serve on registered merchant ships of any of the two countries and sail under its flag.

Minister Meets with UK Transport Secretary

Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani met with the Secretary of State for Transport in the Government of the UK H.E. Heidi Alexander, at Great Minster House, Department for Transport.The two officials discussed cooperation relations in the areas of transportation and its services, and ways to strengthen them.

Minister Meets with IMO Secretary-General

Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani met with the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) H.E. Arsenio Dominguez, in the organization’s offices.The meeting discussed Qatar-IMO cooperation on enhancing safety, protecting the marine environment, and facilitating global maritime navigation. They also highlighted Qatar's positive and effective participation in the IMO Council in Category “C”.The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the UK H.E. Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Thani.

Minister, IMSO DG Discuss Enhancing Cooperation

Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani and the Director General of the International Mobile Satellite Organization (IMSO) H.E. Laurent Parenté discussed Qatar-IMSO cooperation ties and ways to enhance them in the areas of S&R communications and global ship tracking intelligence as they met in the offices of the Qatar Mission to the International Maritime Organization (IMO).The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the UK H.E.
