The Ministry of Transport took part in the Annual Summit of the International Transport Forum (ITF), held in Leipzig, Germany, on May 6-8.Held under the Presidency of Azerbaijan, and themed; “Funding Transport Resilience”, the Summit focused on addressing one of the most urgent challenges facing transportation: how to make transport systems more resilient and how to pay for it.Key topics also included transportation resilience before economic, technological and environmental challenges. The Summit also highlighted the best world practices in funding transportation infrastructure projects to support the switch to more sustainable and innovative mobility systems.Summit discussions were focused on innovative funding mechanisms, public-private partnerships, risk-sharing models and the role of international cooperation in building resilient transportation systems. Participants also examined how investment strategies can align with broader goals including sustainability, digitalization and inclusive economic growth.The MOT participation came within the framework of solidifying its successful partnerships and constructive dialogs, while keeping pace with latest world policies and trends in transportation industry. It also aimed at cementing cooperation with world countries and international bodies, let alone holding bilateral meetings that serve national interests and exchange of expertise.The Summit serves as the leading global platform for strategic dialog on transportation policy, bringing together decisionmakers at the highest level from government, private sector, and global organizations, from around the world.

Qatar Takes Part in IMO MEPC 84

The State of Qatar, represented by the Qatar Mission to the IMO and Qatar Energy, took part in the 84th Session of the International Maritime Organization Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), held at IMO Headquarters in London from April 27th to May 1st.Several environment protection topics were discussed, including reducing GHG emissions, protecting seafarers and marine life, and deescalation in the Strait of Hormuz.During the session, the Qatari team voiced concerns over threats to maritime navigation in the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman and its environmental hazards, underlining the importance of free and safe sailing, including in the Hormuz Strait, while rejecting any measures that can obstruct passage.The Qatar Mission to the IMO actively participates in IMO’s technical meetings as Qatar continues supporting international efforts to protect marine life and enhance collaboration among Member States on relevant environmental matters.

Qatar Takes Part in IMO LEG 113

The State of Qatar, represented by the Qatar Mission to the IMO, took part in the 113th Session of the International Maritime Organization Legal Committee (LEG 113), held from the 13th to the 17th of April, at the IMO offices in London.During the session, the Qatari team underlined the importance of maritime navigation’s safety and security, particularly in critical waterways like the Strait of Hormuz, and respecting international laws and conventions regulating maritime corridors, and free navigation; something that helps enhance regional stability and maritime transportation safety.
