Minister Meets with Maltese Counterpart

Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani and the Republic of Malta’s Minister for Transport, Infrastructure, and Public Works Dr. Chris Bonett met in London, on the sidelines of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Assembly’s 34th Session.They discussed Qatari-Maltese relations in transportation industry and port services and ways to strengthen them. They also discussed the latest global developments with regard to the safety and security of maritime navigation and protecting marine life.The meeting was attended by H.E. Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the UK, Ireland, and Iceland, and Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the IMO.

The bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Türkiye in transportation, ports, and maritime navigation were discussed when Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani and Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Minister H.E. Abdulkadir Uraloglu met in London, on the sidelines of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Assembly’s 34th Session.The two officials discussed ways to advance those relations to achieve both countries’ future aspirations and mutual interests.H.E. Qatar, Tanzania Sign MoU on Mutual Recognition of Seafarer’s Certificates

The State of Qatar and the United Republic of Tanzania have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on mutual recognition of seafarer’s certificates.The MoU was signed by the Assistant Undersecretary of Maritime Transport Affairs at the Ministry of Transport, Eng. Abdulaziz Abdulla Al-Sulaiti, and the Director General of Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (TASAC) H.E. Mohamed Salum.Signed on the sidelines of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Assembly’s 34th Session in London, the MoU comes within the framework of carrying out the provisions of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), an international treaty established by the IMO, and its amendments. The MoU helps advance both countries’ commitment to best international standards in the field.This Memorandum applies to the certificates of seafarers who serve on registered merchant ships of any of the two parties and sail under its flag except for those who serve on the ships mentioned in Article 3 of the STCW Convention, with an affirmation that this MoU does not contradict the local laws of the two countries.H.E. Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the UK, Ireland, and Iceland and Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the IMO, was also in attendance.

MOT, Ecuador’s MIT Sign MoU in Ports Field

The Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) of the Republic of Ecuador have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the ports field.The MoU aims to encourage greater collaboration and exchange between the national ports administrations of the two countries.The two parties also agreed to cooperate, inter alia, in the fields of port information technology and development, exchange of ideas and best practices on ports improvement and productivity, and training and development of management and port operation executives.The MoU was signed by Ambassador of Qatar to the UK, Ireland, and Iceland, and Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), H.E. Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani, and Ambassador of Ecuador to the UK H.E. Luis Ignacio Vayas Valdivieso.The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the 34th Session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Assembly, in London.The MoU reflects Qatar’s commitment to cementing its international cooperation in the ports industry and the exchange of expertise and skills with its international partners.The goal is to further raise the efficiency of ports management and operation and develop them to the best universal standards.
