The Qatar Mission to the IMO underlined the importance of safe and free maritime navigation, seafarers’ protection and wellbeing, free and safe passage of merchant ships through the Hormuz Strait as per international laws.

They also stressed Qatar’s unwavering support for the efforts aimed at providing the necessary assistance to ships and seafarers impacted offshore.

This came during the 76th Session of the International Maritime Organization's Technical Cooperation Committee (TC 76), held at the IMO HQ in London on June 8-12.

Topics discussed included progressing the draft implementation plan of IMO’s technical cooperation program, enhancing IMO's regional outreach and strengthening its global network of technical assistance, and supporting Member States on their maritime capacity-building efforts.

The Qatar Mission actively participates in IMO’s technical meetings as part of Qatar’s commitment to enhancing global technical cooperation and capacity-building for a stronger global maritime industry in line with UN SDGs.
