MOT, Ecuador’s MIT Sign MoU in Ports Field

The Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) of the Republic of Ecuador have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the ports field.The MoU aims to encourage greater collaboration and exchange between the national ports administrations of the two countries.The two parties also agreed to cooperate, inter alia, in the fields of port information technology and development, exchange of ideas and best practices on ports improvement and productivity, and training and development of management and port operation executives.The MoU was signed by Ambassador of Qatar to the UK, Ireland, and Iceland, and Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), H.E. Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani, and Ambassador of Ecuador to the UK H.E. Luis Ignacio Vayas Valdivieso.The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the 34th Session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Assembly, in London.The MoU reflects Qatar’s commitment to cementing its international cooperation in the ports industry and the exchange of expertise and skills with its international partners.The goal is to further raise the efficiency of ports management and operation and develop them to the best universal standards.

MOT Showcases Qatar’s Maritime Industry Achievements at IMO Reception

In the name of the State of Qatar, the Ministry of Transport has held a reception evening in London for the Member States of the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), to showcase the country’s achievements of the maritime industry.In addition to Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani, Ambassador of Qatar to the UK, Ireland, and Iceland, and Permanent Representative to the (IMO) H.E. Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani, and IMO Secretary General H.E. Arsenio Dominguez, the international reception was attended by the Embassy of the State of Qatar in the UK, several Qatari maritime industry entities, several ministers from brotherly and friendly countries, numerous ambassadors accredited to the UK, senior officials, and heads and members of Member States’ delegations.Addressing the attendees, H.E. the Minister expressed Qatar’s thanks and gratitude to the IMO for its effort to ensure the safety and security of global maritime navigation and protection of the marine environment. He also reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to working closely with the Organization to achieve its goals and mission.

Qatar Attends ESCWA Session in Damascus

Qatar, represented by an MOT delegation headed by the Acting Assistant Undersecretary of Land Transport Affairs Eng. Hamad Essa Abdulla, has participated in the 26th Session of the Committee on Transport and Logistics of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) in Damascus, Syria. The Committee thanked Qatar for its leadership of the previous 25th session.The 26th Session addressed emerging topics within the transportation and logistics industry, including the role of digitalization in promoting sustainable transport, climate change, and sustainable mobility.
