Qatar, Algeria Sign Air Transportation Services Agreement

The State of Qatar and The People's Democratic Republic of Algeria have signed an air transportation services agreement, allowing for the designated airlines of the two countries to operate unlimited and unrestricted traffic rights for both passenger and cargo flights, thereby enhancing their economic and tourism ties.The agreement was signed by Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani and Algerian Minister of Transport H.E. Saïd Sayoud.The pact comes in the context of enhancing Qatar’s connection with world countries through new air services agreements that allow for the national carrier to expand its network and fly to more destinations around the world.Meeting after the signing ceremony, the two ministers discussed bilateral relations in the areas of transportation, civil aviation, transportation activities, and ways to enhance and take them to broader horizons.The signing ceremony and the meeting were attended by Mr. Mohammed Faleh Alhajri, in charge of managing the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, and the delegation accompanying H.E. Minister Sayoud.

MOT Launches Its Mobile App “Darb”

The Ministry of Transport has launched its application “Darb” for smartphones and smart devices as part of enhancing accessibility to its digital services anytime, anyplace, faster and easier than ever.Currently, “Darb” provides a package of new digital services related to maritime transportation affairs, particularly small crafts’ transactions. Using “Darb” now, beneficiaries can register a new small craft, renew a small craft’s registration license, modify a small craft’s specifications, have a replacement for a lost or damaged license issued, delete a small craft, have a small craft’s ownership sequence certificate issued, apply for a small craft’s mortgage service, apply for a small craft’s mortgage release service, and modify a small craft’s ownership.Beneficiaries can visit and apply for those new digital services anytime, anyplace, thereby saving time and effort. They can also tell the application to send them their maritime vessels’ cards via Qatar Post.“Darb” has a notification feature that keeps users updated on their applications. Users can also get in touch with the MOT team directly via the “Contact Us” page, the Helpline 16016, or email info@mot.gov.qa.Users can also use the application to reach the MOT’s official website where they can view MOT’s news and events.“Darb” will include other MOT’s digital services soon. They relate to seafarers’ affairs and land transportation licensing.The launch of both digital services and the application comes within MOT’s efforts to modernize the country’s transportation sector in a fashion that meets technological advancements. Digitizing the services is one of MOT’s top priorities. The MOT, by so doing, is also implementing its plans that aim at improving the services and making them easier, simpler, available, and accessible anytime, anyplace, thereby triggering higher public satisfaction.“Darb” is now available at: App Storeand Google Play

MOT Meets Saudi TGA Delegation

The MOT has received a delegation from the Saudi Transport General Authority in the context of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the areas of transportation.The delegation met with MOT’s Land Transport Affairs directors and discussed latest developments and projects in the industry.The delegation later paid a visit to Doha Metro stations, Lusail Tram, and Education City Tram, where they viewed the operational processes.

Minister, Bahraini Counterpart Tour Doha Metro, Hamad Port

Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani today met with Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications of the Kingdom of Bahrain H.E. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.Bilateral relations in the areas of transportation, mobility services and their associated infrastructure, and ways to enhance them, were discussed.The two ministers also toured the Doha Metro project where Qatar Rail professionals briefed them on the operational processes of the stations, the technical capabilities, and the network’s operating systems.They later toured Hamad Port, visited the Hamad Port Visitor Center, and were also briefed by Mwani Qatar professionals on the operational processes of the port’s facilities, terminals, as well as the strategy of the commercial ports, their expansions and contribution to the national economy.Bahraini Ambassador in Doha H.E. Mohammed bin Ali Al Ghatam and the delegation accompanying H.E. Minister Al Khalifa participated in the two tours.

MOT Attends 1st IALA General Assembly

The MOT’s attended the 1st GA of the International Organization for Marine Aids to Navigation (IALA) in Singapore.The meeting, attended by MOT’s Assistant Undersecretary of Maritime Transport Affairs, Dr. Saleh bin Fetais Al Marri, discussed topics of navigational aids and maritime safety.Members of the 1st Executive Board were also elected. This is IALA’s inaugural GA since becoming an intergovernmental organization (IGO) in Aug. 2024, following the entry into force of the Convention on the Int’l Organization for Marine Aids to Navigation.
