Minister Meets with Huawei Vice President

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met with Mr. Tony Bao, Vice President at Huawei, the leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure, smart devices, as well as technology and smart solutions for infrastructure projects.They discussed bilateral cooperation, and ways to enhance it particularly in the areas of smart technologies on electric and self-driving public transit systems.Following the meeting, Minister Al-Sulaiti accompanied by Huawei officials visited the Shenzhen Supercharging Station and was briefed on the ultrafast electric vehicle (EV) chargers that run on solar power. He also toured the station’s facilities and viewed the integrated technologies in use. Additionally, the Minister was given a detailed presentation on intelligent automotive solutions and attended a test drive of Huawei’s latest M9 vehicle module.

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met with Mr. Tang Yuxiang, Chairman, Yutong Bus Co. Ltd., which has one of the world’s largest e-bus manufacturing and assembly factories.The meeting, discussed cooperation relations, and ways to enhance them to broader horizons, particularly in terms of using ecofriendly and autonomous public transportation technologies.They also discussed the latest on the strategic partnership for establishing a factory for manufacturing e-buses at the free zones in Qatar, in addition to the cooperation on mutual investments between Yutong and Mowasalat (Karwa).Following the meeting, Minister Al-Sulaiti visited some of Yutong e-bus factories and was briefed on the manufacturing processes and units, production lines, and some of the newest manufacturing technologies.Yutong exports buses to multiple countries around the world, particularly in Europe and the Middle East.

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met with Mr. Wang Lixin, President of China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC).Held in Beijing, the meeting discussed avenues of cooperation in railroad systems and their associated infrastructures, as well as benefiting from the investment opportunities in ecofriendly and smart technologies in these areas. Several CRCC officials were in attendance.

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met with Minister of Transport of the People's Republic of China H.E. Li Xiaopeng, at the headquarters of Chinese Ministry of Transport (MOT) in Beijing. The two ministers discussed bilateral cooperation in transportation, its activities, ports, and civil aviation, and ways to take it to higher heights particularly by benefiting from the ecofriendly and smart transportation technologies. They also discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation in terms of the joint investments between Qatari and Chinese companies on e-bus production, and logistics services supporting the transportation industry. Qatar’s Ambassador to China H.E. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Dehaimi attended the meeting.

Ministry Opens New Al Ruwais Maritime Vessel Registration Office

The Ministry of Transport has opened the new Maritime Vessel Registration Office in Al Ruwais to provide all the necessary services of vessel registration and registration renewal. Several officials representing Qatari maritime transportation industry witnessed the office inauguration.This comes within the framework of the Ministry's plans to enhance the services provided to the public in the maritime transport sector through external maritime vessel registration offices, with the aim of bringing services closer to the public and facilitating their access. It should be noted that the Ministry has also maritime vessel registration offices in both Al Khor and Old Doha Port, in addition to the main office at the Ministry’s headquarters.

MOT Launches Fresh Seafarer Affairs Digital Services

The Ministry of Transport has launched a new package of digital maritime services related to seafarer affairs as MOT continues its digital transformation and service automation plans that aim for performance excellence, faster transactions, and simpler procedures.These 4 new e-services, which will be available for the public on a test run at MOT’s official website, are: Endorsement Attesting the Recognition of the Working on a Tanker Certificate, Endorsement Attesting the Recognition of GMDSS Certificate, Confirmed Receipt of Application (CRA) Certificate, and Endorsement Attesting the Recognition of Certificate of Competency (CoC).This takes the total number of MOT’s maritime transportation digital services available at MOT’s website to 13, relating to small crafts and seafarer affairs.Beneficiaries can receive the services they applied for at their preferred delivery location via Qatar Post. The new digital services enable the public to apply for these services they need anytime, anyplace, thereby saving their time and effort.The new package of eservices shows that MOT keeps modernizing a transportation sector that is supportive of the technological advancements and economic diversification by making a qualitative shift in digitizing the sector’s services by introducing smart solutions to the public and deploying modern technologies to provide better services. Additionally, the Ministry, by so doing, is implementing its plans that aim at improving the services and making them easier, simpler, available, and accessible anytime, anyplace, triggering higher public satisfaction.
