Minister Heads Qatar Delegation to 32nd Session of IMO Assembly

London-The State of Qatar attended the opening session of the 32nd Session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Assembly, held at IMO headquarters in London today. The Qatari delegation was headed by Minister of Transport HE Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, and includes the Director of International Organizations Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), HE Ambassador Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri.The 32nd Assembly Session meetings discuss the issues relating to maritime navigation’s safety and security and marine environment protection. The Session will also see the IMO Council elections.

Minister Meets with St. Lucian IMO Delegation

London - UK Minister of Transport HE Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met in London with a delegation representing St. Lucian in the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The delegation includes the Minister of Commerce, Industry, Enterprise Development and Consumer Affairs Hon. Emma Hippolyte, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Physical Planning, Natural Resources and Cooperatives Hon. Alfred Prospere, and Export Saint Lucia CEO Ms. Sunita Daniel. Export Saint Lucia is the Saint Lucian Government’s National Trade Export and Promotion Agency. The meeting comes on the sidelines of a Qatari delegation visit to the IMO. It discussed Qatari-St. Lucian cooperation relations in the fields of transportation and maritime transport and ways of further enhancing them.

Ministry Hosts IMO Member States’ Delegate Heads, Representatives at Evening Reception

London - UK Attended by Minister of Transport HE Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, the Ministry of Transport held an evening reception in London in the name of the State of Qatar, for the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council. The Embassy of the State of Qatar in London and several Qatari maritime industry entities participated in the event. The reception event was attended by IMO Secretary-General Mr. Kitack Lim, some IMO officials, several ambassadors serving in London and heads and representatives of IMO Member States’ delegates. In his remarks during the event, HE Minister Al-Sulaiti welcomed the audience, and voiced Qatar’s thanks and gratefulness to the IMO for its efforts to ensure maritime navigation’s safety and security and marine environment protection. He also emphasized Qatar’s obligation to continue cooperating with IMO to achieve its objectives and principles.
