Ministry Holds Reception for ACAO Member States

Rabat – Morocco Attended by Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, the Ministry of Transport has organized a reception ceremony in the name of the State of Qatar for Member States of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO), in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco, on the occasion of the 66th meeting of the ACAO Executive Council. The event was attended by Moroccan Minister of Transport and Logistics H.E. Mohamed Abdeljalil, Chairman of ACAO Executive Council Capt. Haitham Mesto, and ACAO Director General Eng. Abdennebi Manar. Several ministers, heads and representatives of Member States’ delegations, and accredited ambassadors in Morocco, were also present. Mr. Mesto congratulated Qatar on the historic success of hosting the FIFA World Cup 2022, which amazed the world. He praised Qatar’s efforts in managing the air traffic during the global tournament, which saw a surge in air traffic movements. He also wished more progress and prosperity for the Qatari people. Mr. Mesto also expressed his pride of the deep relation between the ACAO and both MOT and Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, affirming both sides’ eagerness to push those relations to broader horizons in such a way that serves joint, constructive Arab action.

Doha – QatarA Ministry of Transport delegation headed by Acting Assistant Undersecretary, Land Transport Affairs, Eng. Hamad Essa Abdulla, met with a delegation from the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran headed by Deputy Minister H.E. Dayrush Amani.The meeting discussed enhancing cooperation relations between the two entities in areas of transportation, and several other topics relative to land transportation activities and services.The Iranian Ambassador to Qatar H.E. Mr. Hamid Reza Dehghani attended the meeting.

Minister Meets with Moroccan Counterpart

Rabat – Morocco Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met in Rabat with Minister of Transport and Logistics of the Kingdom of Morocco H.E. Mohammed Abdeljalil. The two ministers reviewed the two brotherly countries’ cooperation relations and ways to develop them in areas of transportation, its services, logistics services, commercial harbors, and civil aviation. H.E. Minister Abdeljalil congratulated Qatar on the successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Mr. Mohamed Faleh Alhajri, who is in charge of managing the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), attended the meeting.

Doha – Qatar The transportation sector has set remarkable record numbers in all its services since the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 began until the end of the tournament. Some 26425 aircraft movements have been recorded at both Hamad International Airport and Doha International Airport. From Nov. 18 through Dec. 18, the public transit system overall transported nearly 26.8 million visitors and fans; of them more than 18.416 million passengers were transported by the Doha Metro, some 829,741 by Lusail Tram, some 150.8 thousand by Education City Tram, and over 27.6 thousand by Msheireb Tram. From Nov. 20 through Dec. 18, public bus system transported up to 7.368 million passengers, taxis made 315,122 trips, while limousine and passenger transportation companies that use mobile applications reported more than 8.274 million trips. Regarding securing the supply chains to meet the needs of the country’s critical economic industries and the requirements of the FIFA 2022 tournament, Mwani Qatar, between Nov. 18 and Dec. 18, handled 125285 TEUs, more than 131,000 tons of general cargo, roughly 19130 heads of livestock, and 6755 units of vehicles and equipment, after receiving 146 vessels at Hamad Port and 105 at Al-Ruwais Port.

Omar Alghabra, Minister of Transport of Canada, who is currently visiting Qatar to attend some of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 events. The meeting was held in the Ministry’s offices today. The two ministers reviewed Qatari- Canadian cooperation ties in transportation, civil aviation, and ways to develop them. H.E. Alghabra congratulated Qatar on a successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Minister Meets with UN Special Envoy for Road Safety

Doha – QatarMinister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met with the UN Special Envoy for Road Safety Mr. Jean Todt, who is currently visiting Qatar to attend some of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 events.The meeting was held in the Ministry’s offices today. The two officials reviewed aspects of Qatar-UN cooperation in road safety and ways to develop them. They also reviewed the latest updates with relation to road safety according to the UN Agenda 2030.Mr. Todt hailed Qatar’s commitment to safe, sustainable and ecofriendly transportation during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. He also congratulated Qatar on a successful hosting of the global tournament.
