MOT Reveals More EV Charging Stations Installed, Ready to Use

On Day Two of the Ministry of Transport’s “Sustainable Transportation and Legacy for Generations” Conference and Exhibition, the MOT said that Alfardan Automotive has installed several electric vehicle charging stations and they are now ready to use.Alfardan Automotive’s new stations conform with the country’s approved standard specifications and will be maintained regularly by the company, as per an MoU the company had signed with the MOT at an earlier time.The announcement came in step with the strategy of switching to electric vehicles the Ministry had developed in conjunction with the entities concerned and in the context of MOT’s support for bigger private sector engagement in the transportation and mobility projects.The stations have been installed in multiple locations carefully selected by the MOT to serve as many EV users as possible.

Ministry Wins “Qualified by EFQM” Certification

Doha – QatarThe Ministry of Transport was certified as a “Qualified by EFQM” organization, following a thorough assessment process conducted by the European Foundation for Quality Management, making the MOT one of the leading government entities that aim for excellence under the new improved EFQM 2020 model.Having received this certification emphasizes MOT’s capability of continuing improving its performance and excellence in all its operations to achieve its strategic goals, creatively and sustainably. It also reflects the MOT’s continuous focus and attention to improving its services for customers and beneficiaries.This came on the sidelines of Day Two of MOT’s “Sustainable Transportation and Legacy for Generations” Conference and Exhibition, held on Sept. 17-18, at the DECC, under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister, and Minister of Foreign Affairs.The EFQM model is regarded as a comprehensive quality management model and one of the best universal institutional excellence models. It is applied in over 30 countries and more than 50,000 organizations worldwide.The certification demonstrates the MOT’s commitment to continuing its endeavors for excellence and quality. In 2018, the MOT was awarded the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Certification; one of the most important universal certifications given to organizations in recognition of their compliance to the standards set out by the ISO.

Minister Receives Two Messages from Egyptian Counterpart

Doha – Qatar Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti received two written messages from Minister of Transport of the Arab Republic of Egypt H.E. Vice Admiral Eng. Kamel Elwazir. The first message focused on cooperation between the two countries in the fields of transportation, ports and civil aviation, and ways to further develop it, particularly on maritime transportation, while the second included an invitation to the 5th round of Smart Transport, Logistics, Infrastructure & Traffic Fair & Forum for the MEA Region (TransMEA2023), to be held in Cairo this November. The two messages were delivered by Egyptian Ambassador to the State of Qatar H.E. Amr Kamal El-Din El-Sherbiny, during his meeting today with H.E. the Minister.

Jeddah – Suadi Arabia Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti has attended the opening ceremony of “Sustainable Maritime Industry Conference”, which opened in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, today. Several ministers, high-profile officials, and CEOs of major global maritime industry companies from around the world, were in attendance.  Following the opening ceremony, H.E. Minister Al-Sulaiti, accompanied by Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistic Services H.E. Eng. Saleh Bin Nasser Al-Jasser, and some ministers, toured SMIC’ accompanying exhibition and inspected some of the latest technologies in maritime industry realm on display by global exhibitors. With nearly 2000 participants from over 170 countries, SMIC represents an excellent venue to reflect on the future of sustainable maritime industry around the world, spotlighting new horizons of investment and partnership opportunities worldwide to satisfy the aspirations of growth and progress of the maritime industry and addressing its environmental challenges.

Jeddah – Saudi Arabia Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met with Minister of Transport and Logistic Services of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia H.E. Eng. Saleh Bin Nasser Al-Jasser. The meeting was held in Jeddah on the sidelines of the Minister’s participation in Sustainable Maritime Industry Conference (SMIC). The two ministers discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation in the fields of transportation, and ways to take it to broader horizons, particularly with regards to developing the transportation sector and its associated logistics services, thereby satisfying the aspirations and common interests of the two countries.

Minister Meets with IMO Secretary-General

Jeddah – Saudi Arabia Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met with the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Mr. Kitack Lim, on the sidelines of their participation in “Sustainable Maritime Industry Conference”, which opened in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They discussed bilateral relations between Qatar and the IMO in the fields of protecting marine environment and the country’s efforts of supporting maritime transportation industry, and ways of further developing them. They also highlighted the State of Qatar’s positive and active participation in the IMO’s Council on Category C.
