Minister Attends Signing of Protocol Amending Provisions of Qatar-Jordan Air Services Agreement

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti Attended the signing of a protocol amending some provisions of the air services agreement signed between Qatar and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in March 2022.This amendment gives each party the right to appoint one or more air transport corporations to operate the agreed airlines. This signing also comes within the framework of strengthening the link of Qatar with air services agreements that open the way for the national carrier to expand its network to reach more destinations.The protocol was signed by, In charge of managing Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Mr. Mohammed Faleh Al-Hajri, and H.E. Captain Haitham Misto, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority (CARC), in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.Following the ceremony, H.E. Minister of Transport met with H.E. the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Jordanian (CARC), and reviewed cooperation relations between the two brotherly countries in the realms of civil aviation, and ways to further enhance them.

Minister Witnesses MoU Signing between QAA, South Korea IAAA

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Qatar Aeronautical Academy (QAA) and the Incheon Airport Aviation Academy in the Republic of South Korea (IAAA) in the field of aviation.The MoU aims to develop and implement training programs, exchange of students and trainers, cooperation activities, joint marketing, promotion, and hosting ICAO courses in both countries.The MoU was signed on behalf of QAA by Director General of the Academy H.E. Sheikh Jabor bin Hamad Al-Thani, and Vice President of Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC), Mr. Hyoung-Wook Jeon, in the presence of several representatives from both sides.On this occasion, H.E. Minister Al-Sulaiti, stressed the importance of this MoU in refining and developing the knowledge and skills of students and members of the academy’s programs, through access to the latest means of education and training in the field of civil aviation, in addition to exchanging experiences between the two sides.H.E. said: “The Ministry of Transport supports all aspects of cooperation with the world’s leading educational institutions to develop the work path of QAA with the aim of building promising generations capable of meeting the requirements of the civil aviation sector in a way that serves society and meets its needs in line with achieving the objectives of the Third National Development Strategy and implementing Qatar National Vision 2023Along the same lines, H.E. Sheikh Al Thani emphasized the importance of this MoU, which will play a strategic role in pushing the cooperation relations between the two sides to broader horizons by providing training, marketing, and promotional programs in the field of civil aviation in the interest of developing the performance of QAA.He said: “QAA’s membership in the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS program will qualify it to work alongside IIAC in the Republic of South Korea and will enable it to open a new window to view Intellectual and academic diversity between both sides.This collaboration with the Korean side is expected to bring new opportunities for work and innovation, incorporating the latest methods and practices to enhance educational and training systems for both parties. It will create an atmosphere of openness to broad fields and extensive prospects for aviation training.Mr. Hyoung-Wook Jeon stated: ‘’As we mark the beginning of this cooperative relationship, I wish to share our shared goals and vision for the sustainable development of the aviation industry. Both of our institutions play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the aviation sector, and the signing of this training cooperation MoU further emphasizes its significance.Through this collaboration, our institutions will leverage their expertise and excellence in the aviation field to utilize complementary strengths, contributing to the cultivation of global aviation professionals. Ministry Finalizes Qatar Freight Master Plan

The Ministry of Transport has finalized the Qatar Freight Master Plan (QFMP).Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti said, “This plan will contribute to supporting the objectives of Qatar’s Third National Development Strategy (2024-2030), as it will meet the requirements of economic diversification clusters for logistics and shipping services, which are among the most important outcomes on the strategy’s priorities through developing land freight operations in a way that enhances Qatar’s position as a global hub for shipping, transportation, and logistics services, among the top 15 countries in the world in the Logistics Performance Index, thereby achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030.”H.E. the Minister explained that the QFMP is creating an intermodal, integrated, and effective ground freight system to support the requirements of the continuous national economic development, and to provide strategic ground freight solutions that are both efficient and competitive, in addition to achieving integration with air and sea freight transportation sectors and supporting supply chains. This, he added, helps enhance the economic diversification plans, the economic and environmentally sustainable solutions, and support the competitive advantages on regional and global trade by connecting companies, products, services, and individuals together.The QFMP aims to reinforce and develop the infrastructures to advance Qatar’s land freight transportation industry within an integrated transportation system that takes this industry to the best international standards and practices. The QFMP also aims to develop the national policies and plans to enhance the safety and security of land freight, increase its efficiency, and keep pace with latest sustainability and innovation standards in a way that increases the country’s competitiveness for attracting the movement of supply chains and trade lines, and enhances the cycle of the growing economic production, and meets the national requirements to achieving sustainable development and, therefore, the Qatar National Vision 2030.The QFMP features policies, regulations, and standards that serve the future of ground freight system and its associated activities in terms of shipping modes and work hours. For that, the QFMP includes several national policies that support the land freight sector, and proposals for many schemes and projects through 2050, which include projects aimed at developing freight ground shipping’s networks, facilities, and modes, as well as governance laws and frameworks for the operations and technologies of shipping and hazardous cargo, let alone expanding on providing the facilities that support the transition to sustainable transportation.Furthermore, the plan includes freight routes in Qatar, whether designated or shared, aimed at reducing the impact of truck movement on the flow of traffic. The plan also provided a guide for designing freight routes, as well as developing a GIS portal that supports surveys and data of the plan’s outputs.On this occasion, MOT’s Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Land Transport Affairs Eng. Hamad Essa Abdulla, said: “The QFMP contributes to meeting the growing demand for goods and services in Qatar, safely and reliably, in addition to enhancing economic diversification over the next thirty years to ensure reinforcing Qatar’s position as one of the world’s most sustainable countries in terms of providing innovative transportation solutions that support the national economy and serve as a legacy for rising and future generations.” Video: Minister of Transport H.E. The Ministry of Transport and Mowasalat (Karwa) invite everyone to experience the Future of E-Mobility at exclusive Autonomous Bus Demo Week at Qatar Foundation

In an exciting showcase of cutting-edge technology and sustainable transportation solutions, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and Mowasalat (Karwa), in collaboration with Qatar Foundation (QF), are hosting a demo week for the community to experience Qatar's first self-driving electric bus (E-Bus). This event reflects Qatar's commitment to innovation, safety, and environmental stewardship in its transportation sector.The interested public can enjoy the autonomous E-Bus experience from 15 to 22 February 2024, operating daily from 8:00am to 4:00pm, with the exception of Friday, 16th February, when the service will be paused. The route in Qatar Foundation’s Education City is a loop, designed to include 9 strategic stops between the Qatar National Library Metro Station and Northwestern University in Qatar. It allows visitors to hop on and off to explore the area's key attractions at their leisure. The bus will be manned with an expert that can answer all questions relating to technical details and the positive impact on the carbon footprint of transport.The autonomous E-Bus represents a significant step forward in combining technology with environmental responsibility. This bus is powered by clean electric energy, ensuring zero emissions, and contributing to Qatar's goals for a sustainable future. With advanced onboard sensors, high-definition cameras, lasers, and ultrasonic radars, the E-Bus promises a new benchmark in transport safety and efficiency.  On this occasion, Mr. Mesned Al-Misned, Project Manager, Public Transport Affairs Dept., MOT, said, “This step comes in the context of carrying out several Ministry of Transport’s strategies, most importantly, the strategy for gradual and full-scale transitioning to electric transit system, and the Autonomous Vehicles Strategy that aims at supporting the rollout of smart, environment-conscious transportation systems to achieve numerous benefits such as lower energy and fuel consumption, less harmful emissions and carbon footprints, less traffic accidents, and better quality of life, in step with the goals of the QNV2030 and Qatar's National Environment and Climate Change Strategy (QNE). The MOT will continue efforts to further develop the transportation and mobility system, supporting all economic and service sectors in Qatar and leaving a sustainable legacy for generations to come.” On this occasion, Ahmed Al-Binali – Mowasalat (Karwa) Public Transport Director, said: "We are proud to push the country’s ecological agenda and cooperate with the Ministry of Transport and Qatar Foundation in this groundbreaking project. The opportunity to experience an autonomous E-Bus is a milestone in our common journey towards a sustainable and innovative transportation ecosystem. Ministry, Transportation Entities Mark National Sport Day 2024

The Ministry of Transport and transportation sector entities today marked the National Sport Day 2024 with exciting sporting and recreational events for employees and their family members.Themed,” Sport Is Sustainability”, the celebration was organized at Expo 2023 Doha in Al-Bida Park in conjunction with the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), Qatar Aeronautical College (QAC), Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar), Qatar Navigation (Milaha), QTerminals, Qatar Rail, Mowasalat (Karwa), and the Hamad Port Project Steering Committee.Today’s program was rich with multiple kids’ and adult activities such as walking, fitness exercises, and recreational competitions for all ages.“The National Sport Day reflects our leadership’s vision for the importance of sport for building humans and a healthy, productive society that is capable of effectively contributing to the country’s development and progress, in line with the goals of the "QNV2023” said Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti.What is special in this year’s edition of the NSD, he added, is that it followed the very successful hosting of the Asian Football Cup (AFC 2023), which ended with crowning our national team.Qatar’s exceptional success in hosting world and continental sports championships distinguished affirms the importance of our creative initiative in the field of sport and the international community’s faith in the country’s capabilities and world position in this area, the Minister said.He also stressed on the Ministry’s interest in taking part in the National Sport Day along with transportation entities to raise awareness of the importance of sport and its key role for community development and welfare, and to promote the practice of sport amongst all people to become part of a healthier lifestyle.Today’s events saw a large participation from senior officials and employees from the transportation industry and their family members, creating an excellent environment of high spirits and exuberance.  On this occasion, H.E. Sheikh Jabor Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Director General of the Qatar Aeronautical Academy, said “The State of Qatar is proud to celebrate Sports Day, which encourages sports, in its all forms, for all practicing nationals and residents, all groups and categories, and we are happy today to practice sports for all due to its utmost importance, and in line with “healthy mind is in healthy body” which enhance the role and status of sports in our life.”“The athlete acquires healthy habits and means to prevent diseases to strengthen his immune system, and to introduce methods of preventing chronic diseases that may cause if he does not exercise sports.”Mr. Mohamed Faleh Alhajri, in charge of managing the QCAA said that celebrating the National Sports Day every year, is an affirmation of the State of Qatar’s support for sports and to encourage all segments of society to practice it which is a vital part of the State’s interest in human development as stipulated in the Qatar National Vision 2030. Minister Meets with Senegalese Air Transport Minister

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met with Minister of Air Transport and Airport Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Senegal H.E. Antoine Mbengue.Meeting in the Ministry’s offices today, the two ministers discussed Qatari-Senegalese cooperation relations in the areas of air transportation and civil aviation, and ways to take them to higher heights, particularly in the fields of training and civil aviation’s technical skills enhancement.Senegal’s Ambassador to the State of Qatar Dr. Mouhamed Habibou Diallo attended the meeting.
