Minister Signs MoU on Co-op between States Participants on Development Road Project, Al-Faw Port Development

The State of Qatar has signed in Baghdad a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for joint cooperation on the Development Road Project and the development of Al-Faw Port between the Governments of the Republic of Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, and the Republic of Turkey, which are the Participants of this leading project.The signing ceremony was attended by the Iraqi Prime Minister H.E. Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani and Turkish President H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.The MoU was signed by Qatar Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, Iraqi Minister of Transport H.E. Razzaq Muhaibas Al-Saadawi, U.A.E. Minister of Energy and Infrastructure H.E. Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, and Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure H.E. Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.The MoU aims at supporting economic integration among these countries, connecting the East with the West, and enhancing global trade between the countries and world countries.The "Development Road" represents a comprehensive strategic project that meets the ambitions of the Participants to promote ties through the commercial exchange, industrial projects, and multiple and diverse transport lines.The project is to create a land route and railway extending from Iraq to Turkey and its ports. The road and the railway are 1200 kilometers long inside of Iraq for the transporting of goods between Europe and the Gulf countries. The project’s investment budget stands at roughly $17 billion. The project is to be carried out in three phases; the first to be completed in 2028, the second in 2033, and the third in 2050.

Minister Attends Qatar-Libya Air Services Agreement, MoU Signing Ceremony

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti witnessed the signing ceremony of an update to the air services agreement signed by the State of Qatar and the State of Libya on April 28, 2004. The update further liberalizes the provisions of the agreement commensurate with the developments of the civil aviation industry.H.E. the Minister also witnessed the signing ceremony of a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), allowing the two countries’ national carriers to operate an unlimited number of passenger and cargo flights weekly with any types of airplanes without restrictions.The agreement update and the MoU come in the context of connecting Qatar with more air services agreements, allowing the Qatari national carrier to expand its network and fly to more destinations worldwide.The two pacts were signed with initials at the Ministry’s offices today by Mr. Mohammed Faleh Alhajri, in charge of managing the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), and H.E. Dr. Mohammed Shalibak, Head of the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority.Following the signing ceremony, Minister Al-Sulaiti and Dr. Shalibak discussed Qatari-Libyan relations in the fields of civil aviation, and ways to further enhance them.Ambassador of the State of Libya in Doha H.E. Mohammed Mustafa Al Saghir Al Lafi attended the signing ceremonies and the meeting.

The ICAO Secretary General H.E. Juan Carlos Salazar was in attendance.The meeting discussed ICAO’s efforts to develop air navigation’s foundations and technologies, planning, as well as developing the air transportation industry for ensured safety, security, and growth, in addition to discussing the topics that can enhance the environmental and sustainable development of the global civil aviation industry.

Minister Heads Qatar Delegation to ICAO Int’l Civil Aviation Conf.

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti headed the State of Qatar’s delegation to the International Civil Aviation Conference organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in conjunction with the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, in Seoul, South Korea. The event is attended by the ICAO Secretary General H.E. Juan Carlos Salazar, several ministers, and heads of delegations from 86 countries. The event is intended to inform and update government officials on the Work Program of the ICAO in the legal field and several current subjects in the field of International Air Law (IAL). In particular, the Seminar is addressing topics relating to ICAO's work in the legal field, aviation’s safety and security, and current issues on aviation law and practice.Qatar is a member of the ICAO Council and contributing significantly to the Organization’s programs, including training, and upskilling the workforce through scholarships for the developing countries, training opportunities for workforce from Africa, and from Latin America in the future, in addition to Qatar’s contributions to Gender Equality Program, all of which are aimed at a sustainable future for the aviation industry.
