Two New Shipping Lines to Hamad Port Launched

Doha-Two new maritime lines will be launched to Hamad Port today. Both lines will run on a weekly basis.The first line starts in the Mediterranean and will be serviced by with four ships, with a total capacity of 6,000 containers including 400 reefer containers. The second line has one ship with a capacity of 6,000 containers including 400 reefer containers.The ships on the first line will stop at the following ports:MERSIN - TurkeyISTANBUL - Turkey TEKIRDAG - TurkeyCANAKKALE - TurkeyPIRAEUS - GreeceISKENDERUN - Turkey SALALAH - OmanHAMAD - QatarSOHAR - OmanMUNDRA - IndiaThe ship on the second line will stop at:SHANGHAI – ChinaNINGBO – ChinaKAOHSIUNG – TaiwanXIAMEN – ChinaSHEKOU – ChinaPORT KLANG – MalaysiaHAMAD - Qatar

HE The Minister Hold Talks with Polish Minister of Marine Economy

Poland-HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti held talks in Gdańsk, Poland, with HE Polish Minister of Marine Economy and Inland Waterways Mr. Marek Gróbarczyk.The two officials discussed cooperation ties between the two friendly countries in the field of expertise exchange in the marine transport sector and personal capacity building, in addition to opening direct navigation lines between Qatar and Poland.They also discussed potential investment opportunities in the field of seaports and possibility for Qatari student scholarships at the Maritime Academy in Poland. They also discussed possible cooperation in the field of certificates of competency for captains and marine engineers and the signing of agreements and deals in the maritime sector.HE Qatar’s Ambassador to Poland Ahmed Saif Saif Khalaf Al Maadadi attended the meeting.

HE The Minister Attends BALTEXPO, Witnesses Memorandum of Cooperation Signing Event

Poland – Qatar HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti took part in the 19th International Exhibition and Conferences BALTEXPO 2017, being held on September 11-13, in Gdańsk, Poland.Addressing the opening ceremony, HE the Minister highlighted the key role the marine transport sector plays of world trade. On the sidelines of the event, HE Minister Al-Sulaiti and HE Poland’s Minister of Marine Economy and Inland Waterways Mr. Marek Gróbarczyk, And the presence of His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Bin Saif Al Mu'adadi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Poland.witnessed the signing ceremony of a memorandum of cooperation between Qatar Ports Management Company (MWANI Qatar) and the Port of Gdansk Authority. The agreement aims to promote mutually beneficial partnership and cooperation in the maritime business and in maintaining close bilateral relations in maritime business.The memorandum was signed by Captain Abdulla Al Khanji, CEO of MWANI Qatar, and Mr. Lukasz Greinke, President of the Board and Managing Director, Port of Gdansk Authority.BALTEXPO gathers approximately 300 companies from 14 countries and is expected to welcome more than 4000 visitors.It is the biggest and the oldest event in Poland among economic events related to broadly understood marine economy: shipbuilding industry and its related parties, ports and logistics associated to the use of the maritime and inland waterways transportation and the security of coasts, ports and navigation.

HE The Minister Holds Talks with a Number of Ministers

Doha – Qatar HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti held separate meetings here today with Moroccan Minister of Industry, Investment, Trade, and Digital Economy Mr. Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Italian Minister of Infrastructures and Transport Mr. Graziano Delrio, Iranian Road and Urban Development Minister Mr. Abbas Akhoundi, French Transport Minister Ms. Elisabeth Borne, Azerbaijan Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Mr. Ramin Guluzade and Bulgarian Minister of Economy Mr. Emil Karanikolov.The meetings discussed means of developing relations and cooperation between Qatar and the brotherly country of Morocco and with the friendly countries of Italy, Iran, France, Azerbaijan and Bulgaria, in the field of transport, mobility, seaports and shipping.Their Excellencies congratulated HE Minister Al Sulaiti for the official inauguration of Hamad Port.

MWANI Qatar, ASYAD Sign MoU for Logistics, Passenger Ferry Services

Doha – QatarQatar Ports Management Company (MWANI Qatar) and Oman Global Logistics Group (ASYAD) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of developing logistics services, shipping and passenger ferry services, in the presence of HE the Qatari Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti and Oman’s Minister of Transport and Communications Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Salem Al-Futaisi.The MoU was signed in Doha today by Captain Abdulla Al Khanji, CEO of MWANI Qatar, and Mr. Abdulrahman Salim Al Hatmi, CEO of ASYAD.The MoU aims to develop passenger ferry services between Qatar and Oman; starting which could be developed into a commercial. It also aims to develop a joint strategy to anchor cargo business to Hamad Port and Omani ports as well as develop joint logistic services between Hamad Port and Omani seaports.On this occasion, HE the Minister emphasized the unique relations between the State of Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman thanks to the wise directives from HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and His Majesty Sultan Qaboos of Oman in service of mutual interests of the two brotherly nations. He said the two leaders are very keen to developing relations in all fields. There is also an active and close follow-up from HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Thani.Cooperation continues between Qatar and Oman to create more cooperation opportunities and the bodies concerned in both countries always listen to what governmental and business organizations suggest to spot new ideas for cooperation in all fields, HE the Minister said.Today’s MoU builds up a close cooperation between MWANI Qatar and ASYAD for developing business in marine transport and seaports between Qatar and Oman and contributing to enhancing Hamad Port’s contribution to the national economy, thus supporting the Ministry’s plans toward achieving the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030, added the Minister.Mr. Al Khanji welcomed the signing of the MoU with ASYAD and said such a cooperation would “contribute to achieving MWANI Qatar’s objectives and plans that aim to boost its position locally and establish its presence regionally and globally as a leading company in the field of providing integrated seaport and logistic services.”   MWANI Qatar is keen to join strong and fruitful partnerships with various Omani companies and institutions as a gateway to developed and enhanced cooperation between the two brotherly countries, he added.

HH the Emir Patronizes Inauguration of Hamad Port

Doha-HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani patronized the official inauguration of Hamad Port in Umm Al Houl on Tuesday.The inauguration was attended by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, HE Speaker of the Advisory Council Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khulaifi, and a number of Their Excellencies Sheikhs, ministers, and senior officials.It was also attended by HE Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco Habib El Malki, HE Minister of Transport and Communications of the Sultanate of Oman Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Salem Al-Futaisi, HE Minister of Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Italy Graziano Delrio, HE Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran Abbas Akhoundi, HE Minister of Transport of the French Republic Elisabeth Born, HE Minister of Industry, Investment, Trade and Digital Economy of the Kingdom of Morocco Moulay Hafid Elalamy, HE Minister of Communications and Communications of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ramin Guluzade, HE Minister of Economy of the Republic of Bulgaria Emil Karanikolov, and HE Director General of the Ports Authority in the State of Kuwait Sheikh Yousef Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah.The inauguration was also attended by a number of Their Excellencies ambassadors accredited to the State along with guests. The inauguration ceremony began with performing national anthem followed by a show entitled 'the bird of goodness' that embodies the story of Qatar's prosperity and development from the past to the present.HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti delivered a speech in which he stressed that this magnificent construction, which was completed ahead of schedule and below budget, will be remembered in history as a sign of gratitude from this dignified nation to HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani. This giant gateway carries the Father Emir's name, which, in our memory and world memory, will be synonymous with the maker of miracles in this land.His Excellency said this would not have been achieved without the guiding directives and unlimited encouragement from HH the Emir and the active support from HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani. Such great support has had a great impact in energizing our drive and increasing the momentum for more work and dedication, he said.HE the Minister of Transport and Communications added that HH the Emir's vision not only foresaw all the hard possibilities of the future, but is also a motivator for us to face all of its challenges, pointing out that Hamad Port demonstrates this most vividly as it has played a very important role recently by providing direct marine shipping routes with key regional and world seaports in a short time, thus contributing to securing the goods, supplies and all that is needed for our vital projects.His Excellency said that this port will contribute to increasing world trade volumes between Qatar and world markets, creating job opportunities for youth, raising living standards in addition to improving Qatar's competitiveness by transforming it into a regional business center, which, in turn, will establish sustainable development for generations to come."We have proven beyond any doubt how much we are flexible but steadfast when it comes to facing challenges without compromising out values, traditions, and ambitions. We have all reason today to keep our heads up, given the amount of difficulties we have overcome and the challenges we have faced. Today, we are stronger and more determined with even more options at hand. We do not wait for the sea to calm - we learn how to sail through the storm," Al Sulaiti said.After that, HH the Emir placed the logo of Hamad Port on the designated area, marking the official opening of the port.At the end the ceremony, a heritage performance was made which tells the story of ancestors diving into the sea and practicing the fishing as a profession and the continued efforts by their sons to achieve more progress and prosperity for the country.Video of an inauguration of Hamad Port
