Minister of Transport and Communications holds talks in Paris

Paris, DohaHE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti has held discussions in HE Minister for Foreign Affairs of France Mr. Jean-Yves during a business trip to Paris. The ministers discussed a number of issues of common interest between Qatar and France.The meeting was attended HE Qatar's Ambassador to France Khalid bin Rashid Al Mansouri.

MOTC, IMO in discussions on blockade of Qatar by three Gulf states

Doha, QatarThe Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) has been in discussions with the General Secretariat of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) concerning violations of international maritime agreements by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the increasingly negative measures taken by these countries in imposing a shipping blockade of Qatar. The Ministry has highlighted not only the adverse commercial consequences of the blockade but also the dangers it is causing to the safety of shipping in the Gulf.The IMO has now confirmed that it is setting up a team to investigate the violations.The Ministry has expressed confidence in the international organizations that are working hard to implement their agreements and laws.

New direct shipping service between Hamad Port and Sohar, Oman

Doha,As part of the efforts of the Ministry of Transport and Communications to build new partnerships to meet the growing needs of the local market and to strengthen Hamad Port as a vital business hub in the region, Qatar Ports Management Company, Mwani Qatar, has announced the launch of a new direct service between Hamad Port and Sohar Port, Oman. Operated under Milahas DMJ, the service will operate three times a week.The launch of the new direct service was announced at a press conference held by Mwani Qatar today at Hamad Port.“In light of the recent developments in the region, Mwani Qatar and its partners have ensured the business continuity of its ports and shipping operations in and out of Qatar to mitigate the impact of actions that may affect the imports and exports to and from the country”, stated Mwani Qatar.“Mwani Qatar assures that business continues to progress at all its ports and our partners have added new services from around the world that will boost our regional and global trade”, said Captain Abdul Aziz al Yafei, Director of Hamad Port, in a speech at the press conference.The company monitoring developments and is well equipped to ensure that the country’s requirements of food supplies, project cargoes and others are met efficiently, he added.The Hansa Neuburg, a container ship that operates under the Milahas DMJ service from Sohar Port to Hamad Port, arrived at Hamad Port today bringing in different cargoes including 133 cold storage reefers containing food supplies. Further cargo shipments destined for Hamad Port are on route to Qatar and are scheduled to arrive within the week.A total of 12 direct calls per month to Hamad Port from Sohar port have been added and Mwani Qatar reiterated its commitment to operate Qatar’s ports such as they provide a stable platform for the supply-chain.

Ooredoo Qatar Wins Minister’s Ramadan Football Cup Competition 2017

Doha-The Ooredoo Qatar football team have been crowned champions of the fourth annual Minister’s Ramadan Football Cup Competition 2017 for the first time after defeating the Vodafone Qatar team 1-0 at Al Sadd Sports Club yesterday.There were no goals in the first half as it was a tight affair with few chances for both sides. Eventually, a goal surfaced as Ooredoo players broke the deadlock in the first minutes of the second half of the faceoff.Both teams gave a great performance throughout the match but wasted many golden chances thanks to the goalkeepers, who have done a great job to keep their nets untouched.Following the match, the winning team Ooredoo Qatar, championship sponsors, referees and the organizing committee have been honored by Mr. Hassan Al Hail, Advisor to HE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti and Eng. Abdulla Abdulaziz T. Al Subaie, Managing Director & CEO, Qatar Rail.Organized by Qatar Rail, 12 teams divided into 4 groups competed during the 14-day tournament at the Al Sadd Sports Club. Significant increase in vessels arriving at Qatar Ports in April

Doha,Statistics for April 2017 released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics reveal that Qatar ports received 375 vessels in April 2017, up four percent over March.Messeid Port alone received 159 vessels weighing 2,207,029 tons, which makes up 42% of total number of vessels received at all Qatar ports. Haloul Port received 7 vessels weighing 716,428 tons, Doha Port received 7 vessels weighing 34,909 tons, Al Rowais Port received 57 vessels weighing 10,745 tons and Hamad Port received 145 vessels weighing 1,086,562 tons.Qatar ports have been witnessing significant economic and trade growth recently, and they continue to provide the largest share of imported materials and commodities for all sectors across the country.
